|Sexual assault suspect at large
A man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman at a hotel in Rohnert Park was still at large as of Wednesday, Sept. 18.
The incident happened mid afternoon on Friday, Sept. 13, at the DoubleTree Hotel. According to a report by the Rohnert Park Dept. of Public Safety, a housekeeping employee at the hotel was attacked while cleaning one of the rooms. The reports stated the victim said she was cleaning the patio of one of the first floor rooms when the suspect grabbed her from behind and put a knife to her throat.
He then forced her into the room through the open sliding glass door and told her not to scream. The suspect then tied up the victim and began sexually assaulting her. The victim, whose name has not been released, was able to fight off the suspect and began screaming.
The suspect then ran out of the room toward Rogers Plaza.
Officers checked the surrounding area and businesses for the suspect but were unsuccessful in locating him. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and further investigation. The suspect was described as a black man approximately 30-40 years old, 5-foot-11 with a thin build and a tattoo of writing on the side of his neck. He was wearing a white button-down shirt, black dress pants and black gloves. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact RPDPS Det. Tara Douglas at (707) 588-3526.
