Monster trucks, destruction derby highlight county fair

Trucks, cars, motorcycles and horses will stir up some “Home Spun Dirt” in the Chris Beck Arena at the Sonoma County Fair this year.  Featured events include PRCA Rodeo on July 27, Flat Track Motorcycle Racing on Aug. 2, the ever-popular Destruction Derby on Aug. 3, and two nights of Monster Truck madness will close out the fair season on Aug. 10-11.

Professional cowboys will compete for cash prizes and thrill audiences with bull riding, bronco riding, steer wrestling, team-roping, tie-down roping and bareback riding during the PRCA Rodeo, which starts at 7:30 p.m. Northern California’s up-and-coming motorcycle racing talent will do battle on a wide range of motorcycles and skill levels at this flat track racing event.  Presented by Circle Bell Motorsports, racers as young as age 4 and as old as age 60 will compete with the fastest riders in the dirt. Opening ceremonies and main event racing will kick off at 7 p.m. Interested racers can find more information at 

 Cheer and howl for your favorite car or driver at the Destruction Derby as they compete for their share of up to $6,600 in prize money on Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. Local drivers age 16 and older can register by July 10. Entry rules and forms are available on the fair’s website at

Witness the thunder of the Monster X Truck Tour during the final days of the fair Aug. 10-11 in the Chris Beck Arena.  Shows start nightly at 7 p.m.

 All shows require an event ticket in addition to fair admission for those ages two and older.  Advance event ticket prices are $10 for grandstand seating and $8 for bleacher seats for each show. Seats go up $2 after July 24.
