Heidi Kuhn, founder and CEO of Roots of Peace, brings “Turning Minefields into Bountiful Fields ” on Wednesday, March 13 at 5 p.m., in Schulz 3001 at Sonoma State University. The free lecture is open to the public.

Kuhn's mission – to remove the scourge of land mines throughout the world and to bring the land back into productive use for the next generation – has changed the lives of countless people worldwide. The discussion includes a short video presenting the work of Roots of Peace, as well as a question-and-answer period with Kuhn. The event is sponsored by Phi Beta Delta, the honor society for international scholars on campus.

With programs past and present in Afghanistan, Angola, Cambodia, Croatia, Iraq, Israel/West Bank, Kyrgyz Republic and Vietnam, Roots of Peace works not only to eradicate landmines, but also to train farmers, teaching them the skills necessary to restore the land to agricultural use.
