SRJC Jazz Combos concert slated Dec. 5

The Santa Rosa Junior College Jazz Combos, directed by Bennett Friedman, will present their fall concert on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Newman Auditorium on the Santa Rosa campus.  The concert will feature saxophonist Mary Fettig as guest artist.  Admission is $5.  Parking on the SRJC campus is $4.  Tickets will only be available at the door.  For further information, call 527-4249.
Featured works will include Joshua Redman’s “Jazz Crimes,” “Moment’s Notice” by John Coltrane, and many jazz standards.
After her studies at UCLA, Fettig became the first woman member of the Stan Kenton Orchestra. From there, she made her way in the music business as a performer, teacher, and clinician. She is currently on faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Proceeds of the event benefit the SRJC Foundation Jazz Studies fund.
