| Fire in bedroom contained to burning couch

At 2:28 p.m. on Saturday, RP Dept. of Public Safety responded to a structure fir at 448 Santa Alicia Dr. A female resident reported a couch on fire in a second story bedroom. Firefighters immediately attacked the fire and were able to contain it to the couch and its immediate area within 20 minutes. There was no structure damage, and smoke and water damage was minimal. Firefighters from Rancho Adobe and Rincon Valley Fire Departments assisted in the firefighting effort.
The female occupant sustained some minor burns and smoke inhalation when she attempted to extinguish the fire. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment. The occupant's son, who had been in the bedroom, fled the area when firefighters arrived. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and caused an estimated $10,000 of damage to the room and its contents.
